What do fire alarm control units do?
Fire alarm control units are the technological hub of every fire detection and alarm system. They process notifications from fire detectors and other system components. To do this, they receive signals from all connected detectors, evaluate them and make decisions based on that assessment – e.g. activating alarms, alerting a control center, or activating automatic extinguishing systems. In the event of a fire alarm, details from the activated detector are shown on the graphic display. This makes it easier for local rescue personnel to locate the fire.
Modern fire alarm control units can be integrated into building management systems or security systems.
Doing so makes it possible to, say, automatically disable ventilation systems in the event of a fire in order to prevent smoke from spreading.
