TELENOT flood detectors protect you from costly water damage. The flood detector detects water ingress and rising water, for example, when a washing machine hose breaks, and immediately transmits an alarm to the hazard alarm control panel. The flood detector from TELENOT therefore prevents water damage and the resulting high costs.
What is a flood detector?
The flood detectors from TELENOT protect you against unforeseen water damage – either on commercial premises or in your home. They act as water monitors and react to even minor water leaks. The flood detector sends a corresponding alarm message to the hazard alarm control panel, thus reliably protecting your property from water damage.
Who needs a flood detector?
Burst pipes, burst heating pipes, or defective appliances can affect any residential or commercial building. Water damage often occurs because leaking valves or broken hoses on washing machines and dishwashers are not detected in time. Old, rusty water pipes and leaks in the bathtub, shower or washbasin can also cause expensive water damage. The flood detector from TELENOT warns you in good time of minor water leaks.
How does a flood detector work?
The flood detectors WM5 from TELENOT are equipped with four electrodes that reliably detect rising water. As soon as the danger of water damage is detected, an alert is sent via a TELENOT hazard alarm control panel. The detector can be connected wirelessly in conjunction with a wireless detector transmitter. Naturally, a conventional connection via the multi-functional input on the control panel is also possible.
The detector itself is accommodated inside a watertight, molded plastic housing. Although barely noticeable visually, it is a very effective device that protects you from water damage.
Where should the flood detector be installed?
TELENOT flood detectors can be mounted at various locations around the house to ensure early detection and prevention of potential water damage. In the bathroom, they should be placed near water pipes and washbasins, showers, or bathtubs. In the kitchen, flood detectors are particularly suitable for appliances such as dishwashers, sinks, steam cookers, and refrigerators that are connected to a water supply. Water monitors should be installed in the basement to detect a possible rise in the groundwater level or other damage at an early stage.
What to look for when purchasing a flood detector
When selecting a flood detector, you should consider the following:
- Alarm: Flood detectors from TELENOT should be connected to a TELENOT hazard alarm control panel. This will issue an visible or audible alarm as soon as water ingress is detected.
- Power consumption: Most flood detectors consume very little power.
- Cable length: For wired flood detectors, the cable length is important. We recommend cable lengths of at least 1.5 m.
- Mounting location: The flood detector WM5 is mounted either on the floor or on the wall.
